Current special exhibit: Peace on Earth
More than 40 artists have one or two pieces of art work in this exhibit which will be on display from
Tying in with the art exhibit, a number of area art teachers did art projects with their students. Nearly 200 students created greeting cards that have images and/or messages of peace and good will. The cards do not include any reference to politics or religion. The cards will be on display through the end of 2008 and then they will be transported overseas to be distributed to Islamic school children in the
The art work on the cards and that which is in the exhibit will speak in different ways to different individuals. When organizing the exhibit, gallery owner Diane Overmyer purposefully invited artists who use a wide range of methods and materials in their work. Also many of the artists have different ethnic or cultural backgrounds. The artists range from those with international recognition, to emerging artists. The exhibit itself stands as a metaphor for valuing every person’s unique qualities.

Family Christmas Day, Saturday, December 13th, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Special activities for the whole family at The Old Bag Factory and Sycamore Fine Arts! Special events include: make-it-and-take-it art projects for the family, Bruce Langton will be here from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm for a special book signing for several of his popular children's books. There also will be special sales on gift items, furniture, family portrait specials, cookie and cup decorating in our newly opened bakery, specially priced children's gift selections, and much more, including a very special visit from Santa Claus in an authentic old fashioned sleigh!
