More than 40 artists have one or two pieces of art work in this exhibit which will be on display from November 7^th, 2008 through January 20^th 2009.  Each piece of work ties in the title “Peace on Earth”.  Nearly all of the artists have provided statements relating to their work and subject of Peace.  Some of the work is very evident in what it is addressing, while others is more interpretive.

Tying in with the art exhibit, a number of area art teachers did art projects with their students.  Nearly 200 students created greeting cards that have images and/or messages of peace and good will. The cards do not include any reference to politics or religion.  The cards will be on display through the end of 2008 and then they will be transported overseas to be distributed to Islamic school children in the Middle East and perhaps other areas of the world. 

The art work on the cards and that which is in the exhibit will speak in different ways to different individuals.  When organizing the exhibit, gallery owner Diane Overmyer purposefully invited artists who use a wide range of methods and materials in their work.  Also many of the artists have different ethnic or cultural backgrounds.  The artists range from those with international recognition, to emerging artists.  The exhibit itself stands as a metaphor for valuing every person’s unique qualities.
